We are off to Brisbane – Eventually

We have fully paid for our new car and filled in all of the forms required.  Interestingly, BYD Automotive didn’t attempt to communicate with us to let us know that the funds had all been deposited in their account.  It would have been good for them to do that given the problems we went though to move the funds from our account to theirs.

We weren’t the only ones to have to go through these issues with their bank.  Apparently, the story goes that there were scams around in which scammers intercepted emails from Tesla to their customer and adjusted the bank account details so that funds would not end up the correct account.

However I was told that everything was satisfactory as far as out account was concerned and that the car would be ready to be picked up on Friday September 9th.  Uncoftunately we weren’t able to leave Gayndah at that time we had a concert to present which had been arranged several months ago.  It included a lot of my students in the first half and then a guest artist for the second half.

It was supposed to be a Backyard Concert, that is in our back yard but earlier in the week there was a forecast of 100% chance of rain on Friday.  So I made a decision on Wednesday to see if we could arrange for a hall somewhere.  The RSL hall was the obvious choice and they were generous in making it available for us.

So Friday was a busy day with arrangements being made to get the hall ready for the concert.  Lorraine had to go down to set up the kitchen area for the food and the ladies also set up the chairs.  I busied myself setting up the PA system.  Everything appeared to go well in the afternoon. Not quite so well at night because the DIs didn’t work as they should have.  We got through and made enough money at the door to cover the cost of the artist.

We won’t be able to go down until next Thursday because I have rehearsals in preparation for the gig at the Orange Hotel next Sunday.  So the plan is to leave on Thursday morning early on the bus that will take us to Bundaberg in time to catch the Tilt train to Brisbane, arriving there at around 3pm.

We will stay at a motel over night and catch an Uber out to Indooroopilly in time for a 9am delivery.  BYD was not too keen for such an early start but when I assured them that we had a four hour trip home, they seemed a bit happier to make it 9am.
