Gayndah to Adelaide Day 1

Above – all packed up and ready to go.

Gayndah

We left Gayndah at 7am Queensland time this morning.  Charged up to 100% over night and headed for Kingaroy.  Arrived in Kingaroy at 8:45.

Kingaroy

We went straight to the QESH charger and there was a Tesla charging there.  We tried the other site and it was not working at all.  So we went back to QESH and waited.  The Tesla was not there for too long and we were able to charge up to 93%.  By the time we were ready to leave there was a Mercedes Benz waiting to charge.

Ampol Charlton

This site is a QESH charger a little west of Toowoomba.  Very convenient because we were able to have lunch at Red Rooster. We did think of trying the new extra fast EVIE charger which had just opened up at a shopping centre in Toowoomba but it was twice as expensive as the QESH charger at Charlton so the choice was easy.

Warwick

We didn’t really need to charge at Warwick but given that it was free, we though we would. Make use of it.  When we arrived there were two cars lined up for charging, a Kia and a Tesla.  The Kia didn’t stay long and so the Tesla started up almost as soon as we arrived.  They had only picked their Tesla on Christmas Eve.  So their first chargings were interesting. It was really good to talk with them and they were really interested in the Atto 3.

Tenterfield

Arrived in Tenterfield at about 4:30 NSW time.  Interestingly the car readjusted to the NSW time as did our phones and watches. We arrived at the caravan park and was told they didn’t have a 15 amp plug for us to charge from so we went down to the local NRMA charger.

The Charlton charger at the Ampol Servo just outside Toowoomba.
