Buying and owning an EV in rural Australia

We live in Gayndah, Queensland.  For the uninitiated, that is about four hours drive north west of Brisbane, and two hours inland each from Gympie, Maryborough and Bundaberg. They grow lots of citrus around here so in a good year in the picking season the population swells well past the 2000 or so as defined by the 2016 census.

We placed an order for a BYD Atto 3 back in February one day after the bookings opened. We were told it would be delivered in July.  It wasn’t delivered as proposed but we expect to pick the car up on Friday September 16.  As far as we can tell, there are no EVs in the area so we are planning to document our experiences over the next couple of months.
