Gayndah to Adelaide in a BYD Atto 3 EV

We live in Gayndah, Queensland.  For the uninitiated, that is about four hours drive north west of Brisbane, and two hours inland each from Gympie, Maryborough and Bundaberg. They grow lots of citrus around here so in a good year in the picking season the population swells well past the 2000 or so as defined by the 2016 census.

Each year over at least the past 10 years we have travelled to Canberra and Adelaide to visit with family in each of those cities.

For many of those trips we have towed our caravan but since it was hailed upon in Canberra a couple of years ago and written off we no longer have a carava.  Instead we now hav an EV, a BYD Atto 3. We have owned it for a couple of months but not long enough to have our first service done, du at about 5000Ks.  We have booked in to the Adelaide dealer to have it done in Adelaide.

We have planned the trip to Adelaide on the assumption the fast chargers along the way are working.  Our plan A is to charge at fast chargers at lunch time and at caravan parks over night.  This plan requires us to plug into a 15 amp outlet at the caravan park and wake up next morning with a 100% state of charge (SOC).  Plan B (eg, if a fast charger is not working) probably requires that we stay for extra day at a caravan park to recharge.

We plan to leave at about 7am on Boxing Day and we will see how it goes.
