Adelaide to Canberra – Day 2

Above: granny charging under the door

Didn’t have such a good day today. Nothing serious, just annoying. We left Euston Club at about 7.30 and made our way to Balranald. We have been there before. Stayed twice when we had the caravan. The charging point was a little hard to find but we eventually got to it, plugged in and made our way to the local bakery to buy some goodies for lunch. We didn’t need to charge there but on this trip we decided to charge when ever we could in case something wasn’t working.

Then on to Hay. Once again we didn’t need to charge but we did. While waiting we went to the local information bureau and the lady there was interested to talk to us about EVs and charging. She had had visits from people who had to wait for someone else to finish and they were not real happy with the situation. Also, an elderly lady (about our age) was interested to ask about EVs. She didn’t think they could go far enough without having to be “filled up”.  Also had some very enjoyable morning tea at the local bakery. while in Hay, the people from the Euston Club phoned to say we had left some ear pods in the room. Fortunately they were the cheap ones I bought cause I left mine in Gayndah. They offered to post them to us but I was going to throw them away at any rate cause they were next to useless so I asked them to put them in the rubbish.

Narrandera was next. We planned to have lunch there, which we did. However when I got back to the car it wasn’t charged and we couldn’t get the charger working. Once again we didn’t to charge there but we are fortunate that we had charged up as we had earlier cause we had enough charge to get to Wagga Wagga.

Not charging at Narrandera

We arrived at the Airport Tourist park in Wagga Wagga with about 20% charge. Not sure why they call it a Tourist Park cause it is a dump. I booked here before reading what others reported about it in Wiki Camps. The park is a dump and the cabin could do with some work. It is about 36C outside and not much better with the old fashioned wall unit air con running. No fans so it will be a bit of a struggle sleeping tonight. I have plugged the granny charger in hoping to get about 50% charge by the morning. We will go back to the Wagga Wagga charger and fill up to 100% which will get us to Canberra if there is nothing else available along the way.

It’s a bit is a dive.
