About me

My name is Geoff Walden
My wife Lorraine and I live in Gayndah, Queensland
This is our story about owning an EV in rural Australia
and some other stuff

Flute

I originally started playing the flute while in an army band during the 1960s as a National Service soldier.  I didn’t play much while teaching but started playing again during retirement. This photo is of me playing on one of the stages at Gympie’s Muster.

Mr Percival

Mr Percival have been going for a couple of years. In 2021 and 2022 they played regularly at the Golden Orange Hotel.  They also performed at the Lighthouse Festival in Burnett Heads Bundaberg. This is a photo of the boys performing in Kingaroy’s Pig Jam in August 2022.

Elyjah and the Mines

Elyjah and the Mines have been in operation for a little over a year and played regularly during 2021 at the Golden Orange Hotel.

They competed in Kingaroy’s Pig Jam Battle of the Bands held in conjunction with the Bacon Festival in August, 2022.

Ukulele/Guitar Group

Gayndah has been my first opportunity to work with adult players and I have enjoyed working with the Ukulele and Guitar Groups.  Prior to this I have worked almost exclusively with young people, We call ourselves GAPPS which stands for Gayndah’s Awesome Pickers, Pluckers and Strummers.

My first piercing

I received my first piercing when I was 74 years old. I am going o blame my grand daughter for this occurrence. She was 16 and needed adult permission to get her third ear piercing. So we with her to Woden Shopping Centre in Canberra where she had it done. My wife then decided to get her second piercing which meant that I was in line to get my first. I didn't immediately agree, but after walking around the shopping centre for a while, I decided to take the step I never thought I would.

My first tattoo

I received my first tattoo at 75 years old. I think I was mostly egged on by my grand children and originally decided that I would have one done while on holidays in either Adelaide of Canberra during the the 01/02 summer holidays. We hunted around in Adelaide over the New Years break and everyone was either on holidays of too busy so we had to try in Canberra a couple of weeks later. Had no luck there because they were all too busy to fit mean before February.
So I waited till we arrived back in Gayndah and visited Ted's Tattoos in Gayndah's Main Street. Went in on Thursday and he suggested I come in on Saturday morning at 10am. All finished by 11am.
